The main draw of Indian Wells began for the women today and begins for the Men tomorrow. Unfortunately, if you're at the mercy of television coverage...we are in basic blackout til Saturday.
The biggest highlight out of Quallies has been on the women's side where Michaella Krajicek came through both matches in 3 sets. And then in her first main draw match today...she had to go another 3 sets.
Unfortunately, the other two players that I was rooting for in Quallies weren't as successful. Mirjana Lucic lost her first round. And Stephanie Foretz-Gacon retired after losing the first set in the final round but no reason was listed.
In MD play, I'm happy to see Elena Baltacha come through in 3 as well as Sloane Stephens with a 7-6(7) in the 3rd and Sania Mirza (both have WCs)
As for the men, both Michael Russell and Frank Dancevic advanced to the final round of Quallies but both lost.
Tomorrow is a VERY busy day on the schedule and out of all the matches...I think I'm most frustrated that Gisela Dulko is playing against Jelena Dokic and the only way to know what's going on is to follow scoreboard hell. I can't say who I'm pulling for but I'm really irritated at the lack of TV coverage given.
Tomorrow I'll be rooting for: Ivo, Oli, Ginepri, Dulko/Suarez. Hope I go 4 for 4!
